The aim of the Club is to -
Promote and encourage the working qualities of spaniels and to provide opportunity for developing these by training classes, tests and other appropriate means.
To help achieve our aims we lease an excellent wooded training ground of some 60 acres, easily accessed from the M23, at Worth near Crawley. We train monthly, usually on the third Sunday.
Our classes cater for both the novice and experienced handler that wish to train their spaniel for the shooting field. We categorise training into two stages of development.
Our Puppy / Adolescent Class runs throughout the year with the exception of December and content is flexible to the needs of those attending. Here you'll have the opportunity to socialise your spaniel, learn the spaniel dos and don'ts, along with some basic obedience, and most importantly find out how to work towards training in earnest.
Our Spaniel Gundog Course is a structured step by step monthly training program starting in March. It is intended for novice dogs of 6 months and over and is a sound preparation for those destined for the shooting field. Handlers are shown how to train and deal with obedience, control, hunting, retrieving etc in progressive stages. Trainees will need to demonstrate good levels of achievement at each stage before moving forward to the next and so their commitment to homework is essential. The training grounds facilities are such that we are able to simulate a variety of shoot day situations and the course culminates with an opportunity to be assessed for the Kennel Club Gundog Working Certificate. The course starts on Sunday 13th March, with a Taster/Assessment Session price £10, if it's for you then enrol for a further 6 monthly sessions, price £60.
If your a non member and would like to receive an entry form please complete the fields on the following page.
